Understanding Nearshore Dynamics in Latam

It is estimated North America is responsible for 2/3rds of the worldwide digital transformation market, Europe around 20%, and Asia another 20%. Products and services are delivered from multiple regions and geographies, different from the regions and countries where these products and services are consumed. It is common for companies to have technical people spread among different regions. We categorize four main regions from where services typically are delivered: North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and South Asia (basically India). Below is an analysis of countries and technical talent in Latin America.

There are more than 30 countries in Latin America. The timezone alignment with North America and the US makes it an appealing geography from where to serve North American customers. It is common for tech services organizations to have a global presence and talent exposure in Latin America. The tables below summarize our research on the region. We picked 12 main countries to analyze.

Most of the line items are self-explanatory. Latam FDI Inflow Share by Country is the share of Foreign Direct Investment that the country received from all the countries in Latin America. For example, Brazil received 40% of all the FDI dollars of the region, and Mexico received 17%. The time zone difference will fluctuate throughout the year as the daylight saving time starts and ends in the US. We have listed all of the universities and graduate institutions we found, not only the technical ones.
