Last year we shared an overview of Shopify’s services partner ecosystem and how its network of consulting firms, digital agencies, and integrators support the adoption of its commerce platform across online retail, omnichannel, and B2B (https://alten.capital/blog/shopify-services-partner-ecosystem). Since then, Shopify has continued expanding its partner network, aiming to strengthen the ecosystem that enables merchants to build, migrate, and scale on the platform.
Overall, Shopify added 1,092 service partners, representing a 76% year-over-year expansion.
The Shopify ecosystem saw the largest relative growth in mid-sized consulting firms (500 - 10,000 employees). Absolute growth was higher in the smallest tier.
About a third of Shopify’s service partners are based in North America, while the vast majority of the global delivery workforce is concentrated in Asia, as is typical for technology services organizations.
More than 90% of partners in the ecosystem have fewer than 100 employees, highlighting a highly fragmented landscape dominated by small firms.
